Eye am almost back

I haven't blogged in a while. I know, I'm terrible.

The reasoning is that I've really been dealing with a bad case of eye strain lately. It's actually been so bad that I let *A* convince me to go to an optometrist. I had never had an official eye exam so it was an interesting experience.

I am getting reading/computer glasses which should help reduce the eye strain. I can't imagine why I would have strain. I am only on the PC about 15 hours a day. ;)

I may also be taking vision therapy to teach me how to relax my eyes. Great insurance rocks. ;)

So yes...I am officially a member of the 4-eyed community!

Whine of the Week

Let it be known that typically I am not a huge Alex Rodriguez hater. In fact, I often times feel sorry for the guy. Well, as sorry as you can feel for someone making $250,000,000 to play baseball. ;)

However, I fully agree with MSNBC for awarded him the "Whine of the Week". Here is there very amusing article that can be found here.

Musical Two-a-days.

Okay, since I am working on things at work lately that allow me to just get lost in my iPod and avoid any sort of human contact, I am going to make it a point to listen to two new things a day. Initially it's going to be musicals because there are just so many shows that I am not familiar enough with and that seems a bit lame for a co-host of a musical theatre podcast.

Yesterday was "Anything Goes" since I am seeing my friend Erika Amato's play Reno Sweeney in a production this weekend and "Nine" with Antonio Banderas, Jane Krakowski, Chita Rivera etc.

Feel free to post suggestions as comments and I'll add them to my musical queue. It can be musicals or it can be mainstream music if I have it or have been considering buying it. :)

Interactive webbpagedotorg - tasty! ;)

"Television Owns My Soul (or How I Learned to Stop Worrying About Culture and Love the Tube)"

I should title this blog, "Thank God for Tivos and DVRs" because I wouldn't have the opportunity to watch half of the stuff I am watching if it weren't for these glorious inventions. However, I am starting to have a hard time deciphering between whether I should thank them or blame them.

Every season I pick out a lot of television shows that I am going to try out in order to see what sticks. Normally, I am able to eliminate half of if after one episode. This season I was only able to do that with that piece of crap "The Class" on CBS. It's a shame too, I really wanted to like that one since I like Sam Harris so much, but it didn't work for me at all.

So anyway...thanks to these devices, here are the shows that I find myself watching on a weekly basis:

Daily:
The View

Monday:
How I Met Your Mother
Heroes
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
CSI: Miami
WWE Monday Night Raw*

Tuesday:

Gilmore Girls
Veronica Mars (Thanks Kitzy!)
Friday Night Lights (though there are 2 episodes on my Tivo and neither have actually been watched yet)
ECW*

Wednesday:
Jericho
Lost
The Nine
America's Next Top Model
Project Runway

Thursday:
Nurse Betty
The Office
Grey's Anatomy
CSI
TNA Wrestling*

Friday:
WWE Smackdown*

Saturday:

The Batman

Sunday:
Extreme Home Makeover
Family Guy
Brothers & Sisters

*: I fast forward through most of it just to enjoy the silly story lines. I'm not apologizing. As long as you know it's pointless crap, then it's okay. Right?

This is of course in addition to various sports and news channels in between. I spend all day at work listening to podcasts and music - so I am taking in information at every waking moment. :)

We aren't even factoring in shows like 24, Entourage and The O.C. that will be coming back before long, shows that I'd like to see but I don't get the channel (Dexter), and shows that I'd like to watch but I never remember to record (South Park).

Now, at least 2 or 3 of those shows need to be cut. I suppose Friday Night Lights is the most logical choice since I haven't even started it yet. Nurse Betty and The Nine were both interesting, but neither of them wowed me...but still, at what point can I no longer use the "It's research for my podcast" excuse since we maybe talk 3 minutes about any of this stuff.

I know what you are thinking..."Stephen, get a life." However, this blog isn't a cry for help. I do a lot of other things. I have several projects that I am working on that I enjoy that doesn't involve me staring at the boob tube all day. If anything I am interested in getting thoughts from the peeps on these shows and try and get a bit of feedback to see if you guys would like to see me ramble about them on the blog and more on the podcast?

Let's hear it...

Test blog from the blackberry

Yep, that is right. I am joining crackberry nation. I am blogging from my bed at 11:15 rather than sleeping because pipes are knocking very loudly.

Blackberry testing

Test 1 2 3!

Another test!

I am just testing out the ability to blog on the go. CRACKBERRYS are fun!

October 14, 2006

People can get addicted to these?

I find that really surprising. ;)

I mean I am not at work blogging because I am addicted to my crackberry. I'm at work blogging because I can! (And I need a break from these monotonous reports)

Anything Goes...

On Sunday we went to Claremont, CA to see Erika in a production of "Anything Goes" at the Candlelight Pavilion.

I want to toss out that there is no false praise here at all. Erika was absolutely fantastic.

If you aren't familiar with her check out the S&42 MySpace and click on the link for the Erika Amato interview. She's absolute delight and I recommend you guys go out and pick up her solo CD and her band's (Velvet Chain CDs as well. ;)

Pluggy McShill over. ;)

We also had the pleasure of meeting a couple of great guys and their partners that I have chatted with on Broadway World for a while and they really made for a really fun afternoon of theatre.

As I've mentioned on the podcast before I've avoided going to the theatre because I've been worried that I would have another anxiety situation like I did a couple of times before. I am happy to report that I had no issues on Sunday and felt great. In fact, it helped me remember how much I enjoy going out and doing things and I am actually feeling motivated to do more.

We will continue the training/test this week as we are going to the theatre on Thursday, Sunday and possible Friday. Stay tuned. ;)

America's Next Top Podcast

Okay, I am at work listening to America's Next Top Podcast and I am loving how catty and bitchy it is.

Its essentially a commentary of ANTM and its great. Go to iTunes and check it out right now.

It's the bitch of living...

Sorry for the lack of blogging. I've been wrapped up in projects and the like trying to get organized. I have about 5 or 6 on going projects that I want to get finished and I've stacked things on my desk now in order to get them rolling. Good times!

The Blackberry Project is completed. It's going back.

New goal: By January 1, 2008 I want to have rid my apartment of any type of tape - cassette or VHS. That is going to require a tremendous amount of transferring, but I am up to the task.

One of the shows that I am looking forward to seeing in New York next month is SPRING AWAKENING. There is a great song called, "The Bitch of Living" that I can't get out of my head.

You can actually download the video onto your iPod from their site.

Check out this featurette and have a fantastic day!

So, I went to buy my Hufflepuff Halloween Costume....

So...in typical me fashion...

We went over to Whimsic Alley where everything that I was interested in buying was on sale.

That freaked me out.

The one thing that I didn't plan on buying wasn't in stock in my size so then I of course decided I wanted it.

That freaked me out.

I left with nothing.

I'm going back. :)

Slytherin, it is!

I went back to Whimsic Alley where they had even less Huffelpuff gear than I thought. That pissed me off so I Avada Kedavra'd the staff and walked out with a closet full of Slytherin gear. ;)

It is so much more fun to play the bad guy anyway.

So, I have my Halloween costume and I am good to go.

Anji decided she wanted a Gryffindor costume so we took advantage at the sale at Whimsic Alley and got her one as well.

I wanted to be Lucius Malfoy, but I couldn't find a decent wig. :( Maybe I'll get inspired to go on a crusade tonight looking for one. We'll see!

Pictures tomorrow for sure.

Have a good All Hallow's Eve, Eve.

Oh yeah...

...I'm thinking of bleaching my hair to completely pull of the "Young Lucius" look. Any thoughts?
